Artist Information
Originally from England, Barry John Raybould, MA. is an award winning contemporary plein air artist working in the Central Coast region of California and living on the Monterey Peninsula. Raybould holds a Masters in Arts from Cambridge University, England. He is a member of the Carmel Art Association, the second oldest art association in the United States and is also a member of the California Gold Artists, which is based on recognition through major awards in prestigious national competitions and a shared vision. Raybould seeks to convey the atmosphere and mood of natural landscapes, using a contemporary fusion of impressionistic and expressionistic elements. "It's most important for me to capture the mood and atmosphere of a specific place or time by painting on location. I feel my paintings only succeed if they communicate to the viewer what I am feeling at the time I was painting it. If I wait to go to my studio the emotion has passed." Barry travels extensively and paints on location wherever he goes. His works are held in numerous private collections worldwide and are a valuable addition to any collection.
